“America’s Broken Democracy” by Jeffrey D. Sachs Misses the Main Point: Money Can’t Trick Education, at Least Not So Easily

Here is the comment that I posted.

Thomas Jefferson saw clearly how to prevent the system being overcome by what he called “kings, priests and nobles”. Here is what he wrote.

“…Preach…a crusade against ignorance…improve the law for educating the common people. Let our countrymen know that the people alone can protect us against…evil, and that…kings, priests and nobles…will rise up among us if we leave the people in ignorance…”

It’s a long and stunning story about how “the people [have been left] in ignorance”, the ignorance that allows the Murdochs, Kochs and Trumps to use their money to fool the common people. The said part is that all of this started with the corruption of higher education, on which ALL education, even k-12, depends. If you want to understand how this works, look at the category “University Education Dumbs Down High School”. It’s on my blog inside-higher-ed .
