Gov’t Appropriations Per Student UP dramatically; Learning Per Student DOWN dramatically

Another comment I made on,

The Real Reason College Tuition Costs So Much – NYTimes.com.

“…appropriations per student are much higher now than they were in the 60’s…” (end of paragraph six), but learning (and later earning) per student has decreased dramatically – even at many so-called “elite” schools.

(There is much evidence that demonstrates how bad today’s college education has become and why. There are references on my blog, inside-higher-ed )

This reduction in the knowledge of students is a reduction of the knowledge of our future high school teachers (once students).

So wonder high school students do so poorly on international tests and go to college so ill prepared. It’s a vicious downward cycle – for us, not for the colleges, nor the many people that make money off of them.
