Task Force Wants Simplified Oversight of U.S. Colleges, Universities – WSJ.

I think if you read my comment about the composition of the task force, you won’t need to read the article.

“…The group, made up of 16 college presidents and higher education experts…”

Fourteen of these “…higher education experts…” [For my readers I have put the list of all task force members below] are heads of colleges (Examples are Hartwick College, UNC, Hiram College, Sam Houston State University, Laureate Online Education.)  Two are heads of college associations.

I wonder what it says that they apparently couldn’t get independent experts like Kevin Carey or the authors of the revealing “Academically Adrift”; or any of the many other independent experts on higher education?

Higher education has drawn many scoundrels to the top.  For anyone that has trouble believing just how bad it can be, see my blog inside-higher-ed where there are also links to, and summaries of, the writings of the people listed above, and others.”

The Senators appointed Task Force members representing institutions from across all sectors of higher education, and named Chancellors William E. Kirwan of the University System of Maryland and Nicholas S. Zeppos of Vanderbilt University (TN) as co-chairs. In addition to Chancellors Kirwan and Zeppos, the Task Force includes these members:
