Graph in The Economist is flawed

This graph shows an increase from 1992-2015 of almost 100%, but that is the increase in advertised tuition. The true, or net, increase is 22%. There is a link to the data on my blog (inside-higher-ed ) in the post “How the Government Exaggerates the Cost of College – NYTimes.com“.

There is also a link to a post (Washington U. in St. Louis Touts Their Reduction in Net Financial Aid) that shows how universities use, to their advantage, the lack of general knowledge of what “financial aid” really is.

It’s somewhat ironic that university administrators find it in their interest not to educate people. Unfortunately, that is true in many ways.
