Here is what I posted.  (I think it could be a lot clearer, since there are certainly students who don’t need to study much to perform well.  On the other hand, even Einstein failed his French exam when he didn’t study.  So, I guess what I mean is that if you aren’t learning (or not doing well on exams) AND you aren’t studying, maybe you should consider studying.)

“I empathize with the 43 year old father who is taking courses to improve his situation.  On the other hand, I question a system of education that allows him to get into a university level course without a clear understanding that not studying is related to not learning.  The fact that we even need to consider monitoring college students for the purpose of showing them that they need to study helps demonstrate that our educational system is failing our students by not failing them.”
